I met with the Wirtanen family- Leif, Kari, and their three kiddos, Kellan, Hans, and Eva- at Fort Vancouver in September for some family portraits. Leif was my manager at Cascade Fence and Deck and I mentioned in August that I was missing photography, as the past summers had been so busy and then once I moved to Washington, I didn’t put my name out there as much, so my business had been slower. He immediately pushed me to spread the word about my photography and continually asked me over the next several weeks if I’d posted about it or booked any more shoots, so I couldn’t hold back from fear and not do it cause then I’d have to tell him no, and I’m not good at that. :) Turns out it’s okay to ask for help once in awhile!
Here’s a peek at their session. We spent 30 minutes doing photos, which might seem short, but it’s definitely enough time to get lots of great photos without losing the kids’ attention completely!
Since it’s close to the Portland airport, there were airplanes taking off pretty consistently, and the kids thought that was pretty darn cool. :)
Eva kept hunching her shoulders at first… She wasn’t quite sure what to make of me!
A trick I’ve learned when I’m losing the attention of the kids is to focus on the parents instead. The kids come running right back! Works every time. :)
Can you tell I was loving Eva’s puffy blonde hair?!
