Last November I went down to Madison, Wisconsin to take Rachel and Brett's engagement photos. We went to a place called Epic, which is the company Brett works for. They have five "campuses" set up, and one literally looks like Hogwarts! A Dobby statue, staircases painted like the library... <3 <3 <3 Another was set up to look like a barn. It was so cool! These first few images are from their engagement session. (Looking back at these, I can't believe how much my style of shooting has changed in just one year!)
Fast forward to September 2nd, 2017 - wedding day! Brett and Rachel got married in Marquette at the First Presbyterian Church and then had a reception at the Lake Superior Yacht Yard. It was pouring rain that morning, but by the time we were ready for portraits, the light was overcast and perfect!
The ladies started out the day at Salon Salon in downtown Marquette. Starbucks is, of course, a required staple on the morning of your wedding.
Rachel and her bridesmaids got ready in the penthouse suit of the classic Landmark Inn. Rachel's mom actually had her wedding reception in the same space years ago before it was remodeled.
Cute little nieces and nephews!
Rachel and Brett opted not to see each other before the ceremony, but Rachel requested the around the corner shot.
After the ceremony we had plenty of time to take photos, so we went over to the Picnic Rock park and Black Rocks in Presque Isle park.
I told everyone to be excited but the guys didn't want to. :) Haha!
Back to the bus and off to Black Rocks!
Rachel loves birds so I told her to pretend there's a cool bird in the sky! :)
We headed back to the Landmark Inn so everyone could freshen up. The lobby there is so beautiful and classic!
Then off to the Lake Superior Theatre, also known as the Yacht Yard. I love that space because it's right next to the water and it feels so fresh. Plus it looks cool to have sailboats in the background!
It's the BEST feeling to see your own work in print!
We of course had to sneak away for a couple of evening portraits!
Photo bomb!
Several ducks were swimming in the lake, and one came waddling around the corner during the mother-son dance! ;)
There's nothing like the dance moves of children! :)
And that was my last wedding of 2017! (Special thanks to Brianne Maggio for second shooting!)
